Good news travels fast in Calgary film circles, and this one made the rounds on April 27. Monique Barrie, the director and producer behind LHI Productions, has been accepted into the next Alberta Producer Accelerator program.
The Alberta Producer Accelerator is a multi-cohort professional development initiative that aims to strengthen Alberta’s screen industry by giving producers and filmmakers the tools, knowledge and connections to move their projects forward. Barrie thanked Alberta Film, the City of Calgary, the Calgary Film Commission, Edmonton Screen and PrairiesCan, working in partnership with Access Canada, for the spot.
Where it started
She also gave a big thank-you to Michael Peterson of Peterson Polaris, who got her producing career going through AMPIA’s Bespoke Mentorship. AMPIA has a long history in the province, and it’s nice to see one of its mentorships lead to another step up.
We’ll be cheering for the projects that come out of this, and you can follow along on the LHI Productions Instagram. The company’s story page lists where the team’s films have played so far.
